I've been told to gob it up with silicone. (the piezo) I'm just starting to experiment in general and I'm not that smart ... yet.
Since I've built my double neck, this first build tastes like a chocolate filled with mayo to me and doesn't really get played anymore. (love playing my 2nd build)
With piezos, I go on the underside of the box, either side of the the neck and most of the time giet good results. CBGs are funny... Sometimes they sound better than they should and sometimes not as good. It's like the box of chocolates. You don't always know what you have until you bite into it.
I use piezo all the time. I glue mine to the lid on the bass side right by the bridge. I get no feedback issues and it give a nice airy sound. I am just starting to experiment with magnetic pickups. As for the box, if you come across one let me know. maybe a trade or straight up buy it from you. All the best, Jeff
I wish I knew where to get more of these boxes. The place I got this one went out of business and threw lots of boxes in a dumpster before I knew thew were gone.
I put holes in the neck figuring I'd get more acoustic value out of it (probably not) The piezo is under the neck but never really worked right (feedback, delayed signal) so this one is acoustic and I do magnetic pickups now.
Hey Mark, looks nice. What are the holes in the neck for? Any chance you have access to another Las Cabrillas box? I have been hunting for one for a bass project. The customer wants a pirate theme and the ship is perfect. I also have built with this box before and it sounds great. Thanks for any help you can send me.

Here's a vid of me playing it ... acoustic with a mic in front of it.

Great first build! First of many, if I'm not mistaken!
Very nice. I like the way you did inside the box. Where is the piezo?
