the other day I took out the trash and found a ukulele sitting right on top, in very good condition except, conveniently for me, the neck had come cleanly off. I screwed it to a cigar box, used a handle I saved from some junk furniture for the bridge, strings ended through the box. Then I thought of a heart shaped sound hole because my beautiful wife loves the Cape (which you can just make out written on the headstock by the original manufacturer). The cigar box is larger and sound better than the original, smaller body (and it doesn't have all the cheesy Hawaiian flowers all over it)
