Ah! I can see the bowl better in the video below. Man, it does sounds banjo like.

Its a brass bowl over a mahogany bowl...resting in place on the neck, with a small gap, so either side can flex

Also tried a ceramic tile and a CD...but this one had nicest clang.. the ceramic tile was a warm sound..weird
