If the other strings are OK and the frets aren't at a crazy angle, there's only 2 other potential contact points - the nut and the bridge. Are all the strings resting on the front (fingerboard) edge of the nut ?
I like speedy builds too, Chris. The heritage is a poor person making an instrument out of found stuff and wanting it ASAP.

It plays nicely Uncle John... I have a rounding plane but cant seem to get it to work well at moment
needs a sharpen.. me thinks...
But I like speed...:>)
Ive gone backwards as my Dulcimer fretting the small srting is out and I cant figure out why...?
Nice string height for what I like. Looks good. Nice grain.
I 'think' like the neck a bit more rounded but then I play a square neck and hardly notice.
