This is my 4th CBG, a long neck 3-stringer compared to a McNally Standard Strumstick. Both are stick dulcimer type instruments with diatonically fretted necks. My 3-stringer is 34.5 inches long with a scale length of 24 inches. The cigar box is 9" long by 5 & 3/8" wide and 2" deep. Despite the larger sound box, the McNally Strumstick sounds a lot better and much louder. So, ultimately, I'll have to learn how to build better sound boxes, or modify cigar boxes to sound better.
