I would encourage you to give them a try Douglas! Here is a link to the YouTube video where I discovered them. I edited the stl file to remove one of the attach screws and scaled the print 97% so the post would go through a 3/8” hole. Good luck. Please show us what you come up with, if you give it a go.
I have a couple of cigar box ukes strung up with fishing line which allow a longer scale length with standard GCEA tuning! I couldn’t agree more Bernie. Once you have bought the fishing line, you have a lifetime supply of strings. They are tough, I haven’t had one break yet.
That is a possibility Uncle John. I need to do more testing to get an idea of how the tuners hold up with repeated use. Excellent song choice especially if you’re feeling Blue. Orange you glad I didn’t go the other direction? Yardsticks have become my go to neck wood. Sometimes I’m envious that there are no Menard’s close by then I could build a Green CBG!
I have successfully used fishing line on ukes and they have a significant economic advantage! Occasionally I have had commercial strings break but when replaced by fishing line they survive the tension and work well.
You are correct Bernie, these tuners don’t stand a chance against steel strings! Ukes are an excellent choice. I like the lower register of the standard GDG CBG, so I have been experimenting with the fishing line that will let me pull it off. It is starting to come together. Thanks for weighing in!

I love the 3D printed tuners. I'd love to try something like that sometime. Did you design them?
Thanks Kale! I’m always game for trying something new.
