  • Oh yes.. if you started from the next note, (ie your nut is at the 3rd degree of the normal diatonic scale) you'll be in the Phrygian mode.. try it with a capo on the second fret of one of these or the first fret of the minor (blues) ones.. this mode has a minor 2nd in it as well & will give you some great Spanish pseudo flamenco feels (among other cool things..) If you're blazingly fast you can play some metal lead guitar too ;)
  • wow look at all them ! you have been busy very nice work Diane , love the stands too :-)

  • Awesome!! I've been capoing a strumstick at the 1st (2nd really) fret for ages.. This puts you in the 'Dorian' mode btw..
I have been planning such an instrument for ages but I never saw one before.. great work
  • Impressive work!
  • I really like how you make your necks!
  • Great to the sixth power !
  • Thanks for the kind words, all! It was fun to build in a batch (which I was afraid would not be!)

The blues-cimer includes the following chromatic frets:

    0 3 7 10 12 (optional 6 - I left it out)

They are a ton of fun to play, just watch Shane's "one string thing" video and you're playing like a pro.
  • This is a great photo of some really fabulous instruments. I really like the pics for inlays (they look amazing!), and I've never seen a blues-cimer before, but it's an awesome idea!
  • Sympa vos six boites Bravo
  • Sweet fleet!!!
