  Trying the eye bolt variations is something a lot of us kind of want to try.  I am glad I tried it, but will take factory made tuners in the future.   Chris Lyons has some interesting builds.  Often with eye bolt type tuners.

  That's a good idea. Especially since they're getting grooved anyway. I was very hesitant to use the screws but this was the first time I've used anything but standard tuning pegs and I want sure how slots would hold

  Oh, oh, oh!    Cool look.    But yup, they are bit of a pain in the ass to keep tuned.   Rather than use screws as string guides, you can file grooves below the slots.
