I'll have to play with decoupage (gluing on paper then sealing it with varnish, etc.). My daughter is always wanting me to paint the boxes I give her and the results are always pretty poor. Maybe decoupage is the answer. I can try on some odd sized cigar boxes until I get it right. The one you did with the brown paper bag with the "cracks" motif cam out looking good.
