Too bad they don't make gold or brass colored speakers, it might have been better.
Though a very light spray of flat black would give the speaker a look that is more in in tune with the era of the rest of the amp. They only had black or beige/brown speakers in the 1920's.

I just had an idea concerning the Art deco clock!
Why not just use a loop of masking tape and a bit of black cardboard to see how you like the speaker without the silver?
If you like it better without, paint away. If it doesn't bother you, leave as is.
