  • Even more coolness!   Pick - there may be another dude that would make a parallel connection to a Soviet Tonika guitar!   Well done - I see it!

43 - that's actually a very cool (or glorious, as you note) misstep!  Looks different in a pretty awesome way...

43 & Bones - - I'm OK with Mott the Hoople!   Listened to them at the same time 43 saw 'em; I still like their "Roll Away the Stone".

  • Wow Motte the Hoopel hey I had that album this is a piece of art indeed hats off .
  • reminds me of the soviet  Tonika guitars.

  • Hey Rob !

Thanks for the comment(s); much appreciated !

Ok, the sacrificed LP was something I picked up at the local Goodwill for next to nothing, being the the "All the Young Dudes" album by the old British "glam band," Mott the Hoople ... and which I am now ashamed to say, saw them at a concert in 1973 :-(

The shape of the guitar was inspired by the Fender Telecaster since I am a fanatic over Telecasters... the original intent was to make a scaled down Telecaster, but while cutting on my band-saw I messed up and sort of free handed the bottom half and what you see is was came out of the glorious misstep !! The shape of the pickguard is based on the 1949 prototype for the Telecaster which used a pick guard shape like the one on this build. Actually, I just traced the pick guard from the replica of the 1949 I own and transferred that onto the Mott the Hoople LP....

  • I like so many things about this guitar.

What record did you sacrifice for the pick guard?

    What inspired the shape?

  • Nicely done!   Like the old LP pick guard!

  • Very nice!  What is that pick guard?   Looks a bit like and old record.

  • Way cool. Has a good vibe. Lots of goodness.
