Hi all, working on a build, long story short.... wanting to run a piezo bridge and a flatpup neck through a mini 3 way toggle, each with their own volume so that they can be blended in the middle position. I can get each pickup to work in their…
Read more…Hi all, I'm wiring up a current build that has a single coil at the neck and dual piezo under the bridge. I don't want to have a 3-way switch, instead I want to run the pickup through volume and tone pots, and the dual piezo through a volume pot,…
Read more…Hi all, I am having trouble finding a schematic. I am wanting to use a piezo under the bridge, a single coil at the neck, 3 way switch, 1 volume, 1 tone. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, what size capacitor would be recommended for…
Read more…Hi all, short of using a radius sanding block, how do you experienced builders radius your fretboards? I am saving up for a Stew Mac order for a bunch of tools, but what can I do until then?

Great job. Nice looking and sounds good as well, Thanks for the post !
Hey hey Turkeychicken, your videos are nifty. I love the sound out of your VW build. It really projects. Both sound nice. Good job.
Did not know that You are in Kokomo. There is a small group of here that build.
I got interupted by a lady come to buy a ukulele. She went off with a nice old Silvertone baritone from the 50s. The string spacing on a lap steel is usually wider than standard 6 string. Some players don't like that. I do however. If you are used to 3 and 4 string you will like the wider spacing. Fitting the dots on the pup is what's important. You can get a cool Gretsch pup on ebay for low prices that is made for lap steels. It's Chinese, but i like them. Hope that helps... Oh, and a wood neck is just fine. A lot of the old metal Nationals have wood necks. ... Dave
Hey Turkeychicken, I got my body blanked out today up at the garden. I'll post photos tonight. A lap steel's just like a reso guitar only usually shorter. 23" scale or so. I have about 5 relics and 3 i've made laying around. Each has a different scale length. I just use one as a model to take measurements from. You could use any standard length however. The action is real high as a heavy bar is used. No frets needed, just markers of some sort. You have to see them clearly. I tune to a g tuning for country and old time. and I use an A6 tuning for Hawaiian: E,C#,A,F#,E,C# (from high to low). There are usually at least 24 fret markers. The pup is almost alway a bridge pup. Single coil would be old time lap steel.
Do what you gotta do, man. No reason you can't bring in a bud. Turn him on to Townes!
Aiiight!! (Not on FB, but will be watching for more vids!)
