I've always played a 4 string cause it seemed like a natural progression down from a six string. Using the top 3 strings I can easily pick out any tune I want from classical to CW, Pink Floyd etc. Is this possible on a 3 string?
It's taken most of a week to unwind and get back to normal after out "shake-down-cruise" in our new to us, 2008 Itasca Cambria 29h motorhome. We left home on the 15th of April and returned home on the 8th of May....a 23 day "trial run" we covered 480
I have had several bouts of "tennis elbow" over the years due to repetitive use of my fingers and arm while playing guitars. I've tried exercise, total rest, drugs, ice, heat and anything else a snake-oil salesman could sell me, (usta get these littl
What is the best way to get a banjo sound out of a CBG? I'm thinking about leaving the back open for starters, but what else will give me that twang? I bought a 5 string tenor neck and was going to pull the 5th string mechanic's, but it's too nice to
don't know hoiw many of you saw my last cbg , but for those who didn't I think this is worth repeating. For removing the hum out of the amp, I connected the jack to the tailpiece and strings on the outside of the box. Sounds great and look funky, gi
It's not much of a hum, but it's irritating to say the least. I can make it go away by touching the metal shield around the plug (the male end)....but then I only have one hand to play with so that's not gonna work. Is there a simple solution? Please
Last month I had my prostate removed (thanx Vietnam), and as a result until I regain my continence, I'm forced to wear "adult diapers". Being a fair picker, I decided to audition for the band from the movie "O' Brother Where Art Thou"....The Soggy Bo
Had me some fun the other day. I was completing a CBG and had made a 2 piece brass tail piece. A pierced brass tube mounted to a brass plate. I soldered it together with some 3% silver solder and figured I was good to go. Mounted all the strings and
I noticed some one mentioned string adjustment in the "Zero Fret" thread and thought I'd mention how I do it. Instead of tightening and loosening strings to find the right clearance, I make a loop out of dental floss, wrap the top around 2 tuner pegs
I have some old ivory stripped off an antique keyboard I bought about 35 yrs ago, is it hard enough to use as a bridge piece? Or should I laminate 2 pieces to a piece of steel (one on each side) and the steel would be where the strings rested?
Boy I'll tell you for sure, I love my little CBG to death! I've played 6 string on and off for many years (never really any good) and started with a 4 string CBG earlier last year . Between slide, blues work and tune pickin' I'm gonna be hard pressed
I found this box on evilbay and it called to me. It's over 17in long so I brought the fret board down in to the top some. I'm thinking about soldering a piece of brass on the skate key or maybe using an old timey trench lighter for the bridge piece.
I'm pretty new at making anything with a string involved......especially multiple strings !! I've made three GBG's, (one 6 string reso and 2, 4 string boxes), so far and am pleased enough with my efforts to stop while ahead (heh-heh). I look at the p
I just finished this CBG and thought the NRA stood for National Rifle Association, actually it's from 1933 and FDR's National Recovery Administration !!
I have a rosewood fingerboard and figure I'll just wipe it down with bee's wax and heat the board with a hair drier for penetration...better ideas PLEASE.
My broke wrist (3 bones, 6 breaks), is on the mend but stiff. I'm curious if any of you have tried magnetic bracelets etc, for arthritis pain? I've read up on them and most say it's a placebo, but there is actually evidence they do help circulation.
It comes as an after thought now that I've built the CBG, but fortunately I had the foresight to figure I'd be making some changes!! I built it so that can be opened it with 3 screws and not mess with the innards or strings. I'd like to have both to
Well, I stuck my toe in the water and bought one of these amp/jack combo's from Gitty and for the record, on my reso & it sounds great...just thought I'd share my opinion for you builders. The again, I'm no audiophile and a little hard of hearing LOL
