2nd Build In Progress

I found this box on evilbay and it called to me. It's over 17in long so I brought the fret board down in to the top some. I'm thinking about soldering a piece of brass on the skate key or maybe using an old timey trench lighter for the bridge piece. The tailpiece was an old Kay/Harmony six string unit that I cut down to 4 strings. Got's lots of bracing to do and there will be sound holes on the sides instead of the top....BTW, I hope you noticed, it's "NRA APPROVED"!

  • Here's a progress report and a tip. 1st, the box is so old and thin, I reinforced it all around including braces for the neck on both ends. The tip, for doing relieves or shapes on wood, if you take your time, they can be done on a bench grinder. Take your time, if you go too fast you'll scorch the wood and load up the wheel with particles of wood.

  • I like the way you are headed with this build. Brass on skate key O.K.. Excuse my ignorance but what is a trench lighter?

  • That's a nice one !!!
