I've used them many times. Sound like Wayfinder says, deep and mellow. Imho, best at neck position. I like them. The only CON for anyone not familiar to them is cutting a clean, neat slot for them in top of the guitar body. I haven't found mounting plates like seen for other mainstream pickups like single coil or humbucker rings. So your cut out and screw holes have to be spot on to look nice. Other thing to watch for is the screws & springs...not all lipstick pups come with them when buying online.

Guy's, does the entire tube rest on the top of the sound board or can you recess it? I'm wondering cause all I've ever used were peizos and I'm curious as to whether I have to take it's take it's height into account when mounting the neck.. I can cut an nice recess for it if that won't inhibit it's audio pick up ability. I'm looking at the tubes at Gitty's and they come with the screws and springs.
They are mounted so that you can adjust the height, and are typically setup so part is recessed, and a small part is just above the top of body...depending on string elevation and neck angle, if any.
