Boy I'll tell you for sure, I love my little CBG to death! I've played 6 string on and off for many years (never really any good) and started with a 4 string CBG earlier last year . Between slide, blues work and tune pickin' I'm gonna be hard pressed to pick up a 6 string again for a while, if ever. I'm no maestro on a stringed instrument by any stretch of the imagination, but there's just something right and comfortable about this little box, sorta "fits". I played for a friend who does right well on electric or acoustic guitar and he was blown away at how close to "the crossroads" the music made him feel. I just picked out Willie Nelson/Patsy Kline's, Crazy" this afternoon, now I just need to commit it to my CRS laden memory!! So, anyone out there have any doubts about continuing on the journey, stick with it, the 1st 3 easy chords are just the beginning and the rest will come with time and practice!
Like I said in the title of this thread, this is just a damn fine "YEEHAW" moment and I had to write it down for them days where every note is just one fret away!!

Totally awesome post Thumper!
I think a lot of people are put off too soon by trying to learn six string guitar, they should all start on 3 and 4 string Blues and then they can progress to a six string and be much less likely to give it up like they do, I struggled with standard tuning for years before I took up CBG and everything just seemed to work and in no time I was even writing songs, still playing 6 string now but tuned open G, all those note perfect tab books are gathering dust, but I'm enjoying my playing much more! ;-).
I'm afraid to recommend the CBG as a "starter" instrument that leads to the standard 6-string. Instead, everyone should start with a 6-string; struggle until they get disgusted (most folks do); and then find bliss and inspiration with a proper CBG.
It seems to be true that a CBG will open your eyes and ears to the possibilities of a "standard" guitar, but you need some suffering under your belt to really appreciate what the CBG is doing for you.
Steve, I believe your path is the correct one.
Thanks for the post, Thumper!
