Hiya Allison;
How it plays is what's important! I personally think that this is what is so cool about this whole program- being able to make a viable instrument for minimal dige, and being able to afford making mistakes- the source of all real learning. But no matter what, I think you're on the right track with the off-angle neck, at least for stand-up, versus sit-down playing.
I have this personal love affair with Dan Electro tubular pickups, and in my spare time I'm working on a CB-ish box guitar bass with a DE pickup. I just might tweak it like you did- it's a brilliant idea.
On another note: my congrats to you and, of course, your hubby, on the recent marriage!
Ciao, Brian
I'm digging the geometry on your CBG- the ergometrics seem to totally vibe with the small size of all CBGs, and might solve playing problems I've encountered- especially standing up, with my habitual hip-level playing position from old PR bass days. I'm having typical blog meltdown problems trying to get an enlargement of the photo you posted

Hi Allison, You've made some nice CBGs. I like your wood burning work.
