Events insurance?

Hi everyone!!

Can anyone in the UK recommend event insurance services? I'm looking to book a few shows and festivals this year, and most of the events insist on public liability insurance. I don't need it for my workshop as no customers visit it. I'm struggling getting my head round what's best and affordable etc.

Any thoughts?

Cheers chaps!

  • Yes, looks like you need regular PI cover...mind you what's the world coming to when wizzards and druids ask you for insurance cover?

  • Hi Rob,

Can you give me a bit more info on exactly what it is you'll be doing? Will you be running the event as organiser, or do you mean you'll be booked at someone elses event or show?

We've already been through all this with the Home Grown Music Collective (we have £5 million liability insurance for the workshops we do) so we can maybe help

    Cheers

    • Hi again guys.

Well, I'm looking at doing a few guitar shows like the Lancashire Mojo show and a few small-scale music festivals like Upton Blues festival as an exhibitor, selling my own CBG's.

    • As far as Im aware you wont be needing insurance then - it should all be covered by the event organisers insurance. Double check with Chickenbone John though - he does all the guitar show and has done for several years, so he has a good handle on it. I know when I did the big show at Haywood Park, Manchester, I was not asked to do a risk assesment or get anything in place, so unless things have changed....

    • I've not been asked to do a risk assessment from anyone yet, just to show a copy of my public liability insurance by a couple of events, one being the Mercian Gathering

I've sent a message to Chickenbone John, so hope to get some info soon.

    • cool, sounds like you just need PLI then. chances are if they have asked to see it then you will need to have it. guess it depends on the size of the event to what is required. good luck with it though. have you checked out Campbestival? its the family version of bestival. they love workshops and build in a day stuff. last time i spoke to Rob Da Bank he was saying he likes a bit of slide blues.

    • if you aren't doing workshops(so no tools hanging about) and just trading i would have thought you would just need traders cover. we do small ones like Meadowlands up to bigger ones like Bestival and they only ask for £1,000,000. cover. do you have to do a risk assessment?

  • i think just basic cover should do. we have to have it at festivals normally up to £1,000,000 but some want up to £5,000,000 but we are food. think ours is about £160 odd for the year. try Construct a Quote. what festivals you looking at?
