I have never ever seen a "real life" CBG. Just pictures. For the most part they are of the CBG over all and very fine creations at that.
I have had tantalizing glimpses of the "inside" of the boxes and they appear to have a variety of configurations,
I have no affiliation for this festival other than this will be the first year i will miss it. which saddens me because it's like a family reunion every year.

Been building a few CBG's for family members that play. Got an uncle dying for one, he only plays bass and wondered could I build one of those. Well, can I? I dont know what strings, scale or anything...I know a typical bass is tuned EADG, I'm probab
Lack of technical knowledge once again confuses!
I have some 500k pots that I want to use as tone pots, so I figured Il just get some .47 caps and bingo! Job done.

Anyone experiment with the speaker element from those "talking cards". You know, the kind that play tunes and such when you open them. ~$5 a piece from Wally World (Wal*Mart).
I'm gonna pick one out and test it with my amp.
Help! I took the guts out of a Danelectro Honeytone amp and mounted them in a cigar box and now the amp won't work. It powers up fine and I'm getting some very faint noise from the speaker when the instrument is plugged in, but it's a no go. Does any
On my way to being a master builder after 5 CBG's, along comes another stupifying question...I know there are no rules to building but this involves quality of sound. I build mine by running the neck into and against the end of the box, using a hing

Anyhow, after seeing videos on Youtube, I was sold. I had to make one. So this past week, I c
Did anyone catch the ACM Artist of the Decade show featuring George Strait last night on CBS?
I was blown away by Sugarland's cover of Adalida!
Not that the rest of the songs weren't great, but I really have a soft spot in my heart for bouncy cajun

Has anyone used the printable fret template from this site? Seemed like it would be really easy. Marked it on my neck and checked with a couple of online fret calculators and the results don't match up. Starting at the nut, my 11th fret mark is in th
I'm coordinating an event in a couple of weeks as part of a local festival. A few folks from my church and I are going to host a workshop - building CBG's on the spot. We're going to donate the proceeds to "Ukuleles For Peace", (Paul Moore's wonderfu
For the life of me, I can't get my frets seated well on my fret board. I'm using an oak fret board with StewMac medium jumbo frets and I cut the slots with a Stanley pull saw. I do bend the fret wire before installing it. When I tap the wire down, th
I am building a cigar box violin but at the moment i do not know how to play it. I was thinking of tuning it like a ukulele in standard re-entrant tuning. I do not read music or understand much of its theory but does anyone know if a violin tuned lik
Hey, I saw a guy at a fair type thing playing a cigar box guitar a few weeks ago and the sound was beautiful. So I looked around and finally decided to buy one for myself from Back Porch Mojo.
It's going to be 3 or 4 weeks before he's through making

Do most folks seal the lid of the cigar box shut once the CBG is done? I can see leaving it able to be opened if you have electrics in it, but what about an acoustic version?
Glue it? Don't glue it?
Hello All....
We just wanted to share a quick update on the status of Papa's Boxes: We stopped production in the summer of 2008 because of an overwhelming amount of orders. We could not have anticipated the success, therefore we closed shop to reorg
I have a future build that I am planning and I wanted to ask the community for suggestions. It is a 4 string Resonator CBG using a real cone and biscuit. Instead of using a commercially manufactured cover plate, do you have ideas for a substitute. I
