The Weight on CBG

It's time for another Sunday Song. Everyone covers this tune but I haven't seen many do it on a CBG. I had to tune the instrument A-D-G-B to get it to work. I also simplified a couple chords, but I think the arrangement still coveys the original song. The Weight was originally recorded by The Band.

  • Thanks Southern Ray. I appreciate it.

  •  NIce cover, Poorness! That was fun!

  • Thanks fellas. Glad you guys liked it.

I haven't tried DGBE yet Derek but I've been contemplating it. I think it would be good for chords. I really like ADGB. I may leave this guitar in that tuning permanently.

  •  I always loved that song. You did a very nice rendition of that. I very much enjoyed that Poorness. Well done!

Going on my list... Thank you!

  • I mostly use DGBE, like a bari uke aka Chicago tuning to a tenor banjo, for my 4's. And you learn to do the walk downs. They are there just in different places. :)

  • Thanks Derek. And yes... it seemed like the easiest way to transpose the song to 4 strings. The only difficult part then was the walk down which I had to move up the scale since the low string isn't there.

  • Good cover Poorness. Looks like some work to get that tuning transposed though being middle strings of standard for a 6 maybe not too complicated. Nice full chunky sound. I think Andries uses this tuning a lot.

  • Thanks RTZ. Thanks Richard. I wasn't sure I could do this one justice so I appreciate the compliments guys.

  • Was this a band reunion or what! Wonderful, complete with backup vocal inserts.

  • Can't hear this song without smiling thanks
