I did a bit more testing and the Ikea peeler at $5.95 for a metal y handled peeler and the Kmart y handled peeler at $2 in a choice of colours can be added to my recommended list.
I feel like I should be offended by this video (using a vegetable peeler instead of a spokeshave? Have you no shame?) but I can't argue with success. As soon as I find my dark glasses, trenchcoat and slouch hat, I'm going to skulk down to the local kitchen supply store and buy two. I hope none of my carpenter friends recognizes me. ;-)
