  • Thanks Derek,  very kind.

Thanks Jim, yes it’s becoming another part of history. In 1968 Hull’s fishing fleet lost 3 trawlers and 58 men. Big Lil was so tired of the Trawler owners not providing safety equipment. They even allowed trawlers to put to sea without Radio operators.....unbelievably the fishermen didn’t take kindly to Big Lil’s interjection as ‘she was a woman’. After she rallied support and went down to London to see the Prime Minister ( followed by the good old BBC film crew) things started to change..... for the good.  Sadly the fishing fleets are now a thing of the past, long gone....along with the UK’s fav cheap dish, fish ‘n chips, cheers

  • Well told history, great song and excellent singing, Sammy. Nice warm recording too.

  • Fabulous song about a story that's news to me and to many of us Yanks I'm sure.

  • Thanks all, yes I love putting poems to songs, found I have to change a few words to ‘make it fit’.

We got 14 songs now for a charity album 7 from Sue Ireland (all about women) and 7 from husband Terry all about Hull’s fishing history and his military national service, and how US troops influenced his life) a heady mixture. Appreciate your very kind remarks
