Haha Gary, I'll take Roy over Guy anyday. In Roy's plans for the shaving horse he splits a log in half and proceeds to make it from that. I cheated a bit and started with a 2x8 but the rest is pretty close to his plans.
Always enjoyed Roy's PBS series, and have many of his books. I always thought he had one of the best jobs in the world, only to be supplanted by Guy Fieri (Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins)!!
Good eye Gary! Yeah, I made the shaving horse based on plans in one of Roy Underhill's books. This design is mainly for shingle making. I'd like to make another with a narrow angled piece which would be more suitable for instrument necks. Still, I use this almost every day for drawknife and rasp work.
