Thomas - I think I would go with mounting a rod piezo between the can and your neck, right under the bridge. I did something similar with a reproduction "Route 66" highway sign, and it worked out well. I cut a small notch in the neck to help hold the rod piezo in place.
Gotta do some head-scratchin' first. I have an old oak timber that would make for a really nice ol' neck once carved out. I'm also 'currently' thinking walnut for a fretboard with evo gold frets and gold tuners, but that's subject to change. I'm also thinking 'bout electrifying this one with a piezo strip and a pre-amp, but. I'm not sure how to mount it. I'm 'piezo-challenged'. Never used a piezo before. Need to do some research. Should I mount it inside the can, between the can and my neck, inside the top of the bridge between the bridge saddles and wooden bridge, or under the bridge sandwiched between the wooden bridge and the can? Mag pups would be easy for me, but I don't want to cut the can up and ruin the graphics to mount them. Gotta be piezo's. How should I best mount the piezo strip?

Ohhh. That would make a great git. But it is so cool as it is. Hmmm.
