I have a similar Ball jar amp ( Trash Amps.com ) that can either play MP 3 or conversion to 1/4 inch Jack.
After playing it a couple times, the guitar function no longer works :( MP3 is fine. Runs on AA batteries.
They are pretty convenient and cool. Sound is decent for such a small thing.
