  • When laminating together a neck/head assembly, be sure to orient the several slats of wood as shown in this photo as the resulting neck will be stronger and resist bending better as compared to the same wood laminated together, but with each board sitting flat one atop the other,

    These days I also tend to use a hard wood core and just laminate on the two outside lengths of trim wood when building my "paddle-box dulcimers", Seems the hardwood gives it a nicer tone. I'm using beech wood for the hardwood cores.
