I completely agree on the 'different slides for different guitars/songs' comment Uncle John. It's amazing how they all seem to have their own 'voice' depending on all the variables (wall thickness, material, weight, etc etc), and the various glazes on the ceramic ones really make a difference too. Endlessly inspiring, and you just have to listen and let them 'speak' to you.....and that's why you can never have enough slides!! Well, that's my excuse anyway! I've got a few Dunlop slides, as you've probably spotted, and I'll have to check out the tapered ones you mentioned. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying the ceramics....I just love the tone and feel, and it's all thanks to you.
You already have a great selection. But I will tell you, my fave slide is a Dunlop 230, which is tapered. It is the most forgiving slide I have - kind of hides some of my poor technique. It seems to me that different slides work best on different songs and guitars. I sill like a whiskey glass best for lap diddley.
