#38 and the first of 2020. A 25.5" scale fretless 4 string with a naked MGB Box Bucker. The Lost CIty cigar box looks like it was originally meant to hold two layers of cigars but they installed a false bottom to make it a single layer box.Tapping on the false bottom, it sounded better than the box top so I removed the top and went with a modified neck-on-top design, using the false bottom as the soundboard. The neck is isolated from the soundboard by about a millimeter so it can vibrate freely and the bridge doesn't touch the neck, only the strings and soundboard so little vibration is lost. It may look like there is no soundhole but there is a gap between the false bottom and the box walls which works perfectly to let the box breath. The volume is pretty amazing for such a small box. Now fretless isn't really my thing but I belong to a group of fretless CBG builders so I figured I should build one... before they kick me out. :D
