  • Yeah, it is hard to drill the 2 hole hinges for four string.  

  • I've had plenty of strings break but never a string peg. I'm open to something safer if I ever found something that I liked. (I do like the hinges that I see sometimes, I wish I could find a supply of 4 hole hinges. ( I'm kind of new here so maybe I'll see something, I love looking around. ) ... thanks for all your kind words!
  • Sounds like a well tested method then.  

  • You know, I've wondered about that before. But the screws are two and a half inches long and go all the way into the butt of neck. Haven't ever seen one break or had a customer mention it. All the guitars that I have built for myself have them, Some of I've had for 3-4 years or so... I'm not going to say it can't happen but I can say it hasn't happened yet. (knock on wood of course)
  • Very pretty.  Nice pics.  That is a big old neck - lap style for sure.   I like it all but the tail piece -which is nicely done, but kind of looks like a possible weak spot.  Have you made it good and strong?
