  • Hi Dan - the fretboard is whats known as Bound this is done by making the fretboard slightly narrower than the finished size the fret slots are cut than a thin strip of wood or plastic binding is glued to the sides of the fretboard - then the fret tangs have to be removed on the end part of the frets which allows the fret to overhang the bound edge so you then end up with no fret ends showing - it's a lot more work doing it this way but i like the look much better than seeing the fret tangs

thanks for your comments they are much appreciated - if you would like to know anymore about bound fretboards just ask :)

  • I don't see the ends of the fret slots--how did you do that?  Good example of attention to detail--most people would pay no attention to this.  (And, I'm guessing that the fretboard edge is a triangle set in a vee groove?)

  • Cheers Mark - theres another picture of it all made and wound now :)

  • Wow!

  • Thank you Fernando :)
