Relic - very old box - shellac applied to preserve it.

I liked the shellac finish to preserve the wood and the beat on look.My design lacked down pressure on the nut and I ended up putting the oak bar across the headstock to lower the strings. It worked, but it does not look the best. I may darken it.Big screw-up- I was bummed for about 24 hours because the small string sounded so bad. I had put the wrong string on. Once replaced, it sounds good.Cheap pickup from China off ebay. Sounds pretty good to me. Not to trebly. No buzz. Video posted.

  • Thanks, Andries.  Looks a bit better now with the pickup and head stock bar darkened.

  • That turned out great John! Real beauty!

  • Thanks Uncle. I emailed a note. Electric, acoustic wouldn't matter. I like 3 or 4 string fretted if poss. I love all of your work. :^)
  • Dave, I would like to send you one of mine.  Maybe not this one....   I need to thin the herd.   What do you like?   How many strings?  Fretted?  Pickup?   I know you make fine stuff on your own.

  • Let me know if you want to let go of this one sometime Uncle? :^)
  • Like that U/John,do the large sound holes make it a bit more bassy at all?

  • Thanks, Thumper, Chris, Alan, Peter and Luis.   It will look better tomorrow after I take coffee to those two pieces (mag pup and peg head cross bar).

  • That is pretty, pretty, pretty.
