  • Hay thanks Doughboy. You have a beautiful guitar there. You lucky guy. I've got an original pick guard like yours for my lady. I have no speed bumps like yours. They go for $200 each on ebay (if you are lucky to find any). I may use other suitable vintage pups to get a whole set. Happy pickin and thanks again. ... Dave
  • Uncle John, i'll be taking my time on this one. I'll try not to bugger up the finish. I love the rackle pattern of the finish. It's like a Raku pot and spells "age". There are few dings or scrapes. The old binding took most of the abuse on this old lady. Most of it will need replaced or patching little pieces together. I've never done much binding work, so there will be some learning to do. It will take a fortune to procure some vintage pancake or speed bump pups for her too. She'll play again, should i live so long.....
  • Dave, it will be neat restored or neat just left as is and made functional.   I like it.

  • Thanks Pick, i knew you knew. Now i do too. Thanks! I thought a telescoping pocket magnet might do it too. Hey Gary, I just saw a nice 3 pickup Speed Demon on ebay for about 45$ but high shipping, 76$. Still a good price for some good fun. It's on page 14 under vintage electric guitar. .... :^))......
  • hint .. fishing line and a magnet  can  do  wonders    ;-0)

  • Thanks Gary and Pick. I've not had a 3 pickup git before. This will be interesting. Access to all those holes ain't easy. Good thing there are good size holes for the pickups nearby (sort of). How do they do these? Must be magic..... Demons do it.... Maybe the squirrels could help? Maybe not.....
  • yum yum

  • Thats cool I dig old Kay's, Speed Demons are my favorite bodystyle Kay made. I'd love to find one like that and mod her out.
