Due to the curved thickness of this box, I partially recessed the volume control assembly and knob. It came out rather well and works buttery smooth . . .

By the way, I did not drill all the way through the side wall in mounting the volume control or the amp jack on the bottom side of the CBG . . . I drilled in far enough to true up the mounting surfaces so they would be in alignment with the inside side wall + thinned the irregular sidewall thickness enough so everything could be attached without having to go to an extended length pot or an extended length amp jack . . . furthermore, I painted the inside of each recess with the same color-matched paint I used earlier on the headstock to match the color scheme of the cigar box. . .

The curved body of that cigar box didn't give me too much of a choice in locating where it would be placed. I wanted to keep the top of the box free of all such controls. It had to be partially recessed because that outside curve is not duplicated inside the box. I really like the way the partial recess functionality turned out. I did it by hand with a 1 inch forstner bit mounted in a variable speed drill...
