I made a jig at the shop where I work and cut a 14 degree cut on it. Glued it up and trimed up the sides and added side pieces. I cut the pattern out and then added the veneer. Gluing the angle the way I did gave me a longer glue joint than if I did it the other way. Fret board covers it up and makes it stronger. I think I over engineered it and the other way may be strong enough with the veneer covering the joint and might look better.
