  • It's got that certain "appeal". Neat looking build!

  • Yeah, agreed. A buddy of mine - who is a much better woodworker than I'll ever be - quipped "Poplar is poor-man's maple." I find it well suited for CBGs.

  • Thanks,

"Just poplar."   I used to think of polar as kind of a lesser wood.  I used oak back then.  They I came to realize or at least think, that poplar is lighter, easier to shape, may actually enhance sound - and can finish really nice.

  • Unc: indeed, just poplar for neck, wings, and fingerboard. Thanx for your kind words!!

Oh, and messing up scarf joints just adds to the appeal  :)

  • Yowza, that actually put a catch in my breathing. Beautiful. Proportions, colors and tones just seem great. The scarf angle and head stock are right, right, right.
I don't think cbgs require scarfed necks to play well. But sometimes they look so right. And it is a thing of pride. I have done few and messed up a few.
Pretty wood. Is that just poplar?
  • Nice!
