Padron Venison CBG. Fretted 24 5/8" scale, cherry neck/heel and bridge, Deer leg bone saddle, antique sqaure nail nut, walnut fret dots, bass pup pickup. I'm not a fan of taking pics inside but the weather here in Nebraska has been awful and it's getting worse everyday. These were takin' out at my cabin on the river, this back room is what my son in law Brian calls the "whittlin' and spittin' room". He's from Tennessee originally and he said all the old boys up in the hills had one room in their cabins with a wood burner where they could sit around and whittle and spit, this is that room.

Oh yes John, I have my mask and safety goggles. With all the disease and crap these deer bones (any bones for that matter) carry I don't take any chances. Not to mention the fine dust that comes off these bones. Thanks for the heads up though, I need to be reminded on occasion :-)
Pat, I drove around 4 Iowa counties and I think I saw 4 or more deer carcasses. Some of them mostly down to bone now that the turkey vultures are back.
Small caution. Might be smart to wear a mask when cutting the deer bone, Not your Lone Ranger mask. One over the mouth and nose.
I got lucky with the lid on the box. It just barely covered up the spots where the ears were. I thought about possibly being able to "polish" the cut marks down.
I have cut them off also, I use the dremel and a cutting disk. I don't care for the way it looks when a guy gets done though as you can see where the ear was. Just me being picky I imagine. I have also made a plate for them like this one.
Thanks John, Deer bone is not something we have a shortage of in Nebraska/Iowa so why not right? It's really easy to work with and it has a lot softer tone than bolts and such, I'll be using more of it for sure. This git is a blast to play plugged in, it never ceases to amaze me how sometimes you have a build that is so ordinary but the minute you plug it in it knocks you're socks off. It's an easy git to pick and slide so I am very pleased with it so far.
For the money the pups are very hard to beat. Madurobob and I were just talking about how we both wished the fastening ears weren't quite so tall, then a guy could hide them under the box and have a nice neat rectangle hole.

My weather is the same, but things are greening up. Nice git and cool to try dear bone. Back to the bass pups, I see.
