Another shot of the paddle box guitar's body. If you zoom in on the tail piece, you can see where the string ends have been cutting into the wood of the tail piece. This time I used poplar wood which I believe is harder than the cherry trim wood. I colored it brown using a brown marking pen (my daughters) and then put a couple coats of polyurethane on it. However, after tuning it up repeatedly and having it go out of tune rather quickly, I noticed the strings cutting into the wood. If this continues, I'll have to replace the tail piece. Unfortunately, I glued it on as well as crewed it on, so it might not want to come off easily. I need a good way of re-enforcing my wood tail pieces with metal to prevent this problem on future builds.
