Open gear tuners rule........one

.....like pick says, if installed correctly, the string pulls down on the post, creating tension between the post gear and worm gear, keeping it in tune....always tune up....these are waverly, 16:1....you need to turn the knob 16 times for the post to go around once......very fine adjustment available....plus they look so awesome, that's why they make 'em.

  • worked out different than i expected. the core is purpleheart, with 3 carbon fiber foods embedded the extent end into the headstock. Then mahogany for most of the neck. then i steamboat a piece of red oak, and a piece of walnut, which were epoxied on, thus the black. when shaping was complete, the red oak and walnut are only visible on both sides of the neck. no bowing here.

  • headstock mimics my j-bass headstock, only 4 steps on one side.
