Yeah Rob I just bought my first true knife blank, just have to make a handle for it. Not sure I want to get into the forging of the blade itself. There are 1,000`s of knife blanks to be had on line. My first is a 3" Damascus drop point blade.
Good one too. Oh and I did not notice the eagles head at first look. Fantastic. The brass what-cha-ma-call-it is very nice too. Have you seen the videos about making knives out of old files? Might suit your next one.
I had a talented friend who used to make knives and make good money at it. I never bought a fancy one, but he gave me an all metal one made from a Dodge truck leaf spring. It is still a using knife out in my shed. Sadly that friend passed on. Brain anyeurism.

I love watching forged in fire but I’m afraid I’d burn down the entire neighborhood.
this is as close as I’ve gotten.
I am thinking it might be a fun hobby to get into once the thrill of making guitars and stringed instruments is gone
