Uncle, It gets easier with each one. I got a snug fitting board scrap that went into the slot to drill the tuner holes without splitting the inside edge. I use a 1/4 inch Forsner bit with a small guide hole. The ears are softer wood than the neck so the tuner screws go in easy. About 5 drill holes in a row make the rough slot. Forsner bits can overlap some so the slot is easy to clean out with my rasp. And then a file. Stringing is easy. You don’t need to angle the head down for a good string angle. The strings angle down into the slot. I use long shaft two hole machines. That gives me a choice of holes to choose from.

I kind of copied on your head stock design. I think more will do the same. Simple and good working.
