Actually Gary, no. In my experience the more haphazard the winding the better the tone. Look up scatterwound pickups on Google. Something a machine can't do it seems.

Thanks Richey! That eliminates on of my obstacles to starting my hand at one! Much easier to scatterwind! BTW, do you pot these with epoxy or hot wax?
