While fixing a mandolin, i devised this simple rig to press down on the neck joint while gluing up. The bottom of the heal joint had a gap and needed glue. It worked great. The mandolin plays great.

Thanks fellows, sometimes things work out I've used this method now 3 times and it worked each time. In each case i couldn't get the neck completely off the body, but the bottom of the heal is loose and you can get glue into the joint with a knife. I just crank down on the clamp enough to get good glue squeeze out.

Yeah, Dave, the glue approach probably trumps the duct tape approach in these situations... ;-)
