I won't give up. I grounded the Jack to the metal chassy. Then probed around the volume pot at each connection. No go? I have two radios that are battery powered transistor type am radios. Beetle Juice says they are good candidates. I'll keep trying. Thanks for your success story. Encouraged!
I almost gave up trying to hack the radio. The I found that earthing the jack first seemed to help. Then with the live wire touched a solder point coming from the volume pot and then bingo. So i guess i'm saying don't give up.
Nice combo. Love the radio hack. I haven't been successful yet at hacking in a jack for amping the radio. Can't figure out what to connect the Jack to?

Dave Lynas - did you ever have any luck with the analog (needle) meter on that one amp you built? Getting it to move?

Very nice, Rick! Hellacious jacks on your cable! Wow! Like the looks of your little radio, too. Sweet!
