  • well holy smoke rings! that sounds like a ordeal, quite a good hand with the placement of those health workers. That Impala is deff. a sturdier ride.
  • i was ok after the accident, nothing 3 months laid up after hospital could'nt cure, if i had been wearing the special roadster seatbelts i'd bought for my roadster that day i would'nt be here today !

    fate i guess dealt me a good hand that day.

    it was proved to be mechanical failure of a bought component that caused my roadster to rear steer, roll-over & flip throwing me out and then picking me up again with my right leg wraped around the rear wheel dragging me down the road for about 100yds under the car which was now facing the following traffic and going backwards !

    it parked itself next to the central armco barrier just under the main M4 bridge on the M25 at junction 16.

    luck for me following behind me that day were 2 paramedics and an off duty doctor.

    hence buying something with a steel roof and built like a tank !
  • Oh man, sad story to go with the pictures, but hey a .64 Impala's not bad either.
  • cool, nice trade out if one has to be done. An accident in that roadster could be deadly, man did it turn out okay?
  • it was good for about 100mph as it is all steel and weighed an awful lot, it was just in redoxide as after 'debugging' it by using it i was going to strip it down for final paint and polish and a 'makeover' ...never got that far as it was 'totalled' in a rather bad accident and 'destroyed' , too much for me to re-build, again.....so i took the insurance payout and bought my '64 impala SS hardtop.

    great fun in the wet & snow !
  • cool. Yeah, I bet that WAS something with with damp conditions. Are you leaving the finish the way it looks? It is pretty the way it is, doesn't look like a clear is on it. With that pinto eng. do you get good umph?
  • Sweet ride, but probably not much fun in the rain or snow.
  • qualified for 'free roadtax' as it was licensed as 'a historic vehicle' and insurance was agreed value through a specialist that understood these type of vehicles.
    it did'nt run a V8 but merely a 2.0litre 4cylinder pinto engine & 5speed box, took off the hood sides but kept the top on, also had plain steel wheels and blackwalls for a different 'look'.
  • used to commute to work in it most days a 50 mile round trip up the A3 to Woking for work, only got around to adding fenders after about 6 months of use...and on open headders to !
    frightened the regular econobox drivers, great roostertails of spray in the wet !
  • love it! Do you ever take off the hood and fenders for the exposed engine look?
