You are very observant Keith! There is separation between the neck and the top all the way across. I use 2 - 3D printed washers, but you can use a metal fender washers as well. The idea is to allow the top to vibrate more freely. I designed the 3D washer to be a little thicker to allow a piezo to be attached to the underside of the neck. Didn’t matter in this case because the the back of the neck hangs over the end of the box.
