Karin's box fiddle complete

My week's project. A commission box fiddle. I rounded the corners and edges for comfort. She sounds great and is very loud. Bass bar and sound post inside. Can be played like a regular fiddle under the chin or in your lap. I like the lap play best.

  • I'm glad Karin got it. I,ll visit it often. :^)
  • That,s her baby now. I'll do some tweaking on it's setup. The bridge needs some revision. I may make a better bridge. Might change the string spacing too. A new nut would be needed for that.
  • Ah, Karin is going to get the beauty. You get to admire it often in those musical get togethers.

  •  I found it ! This is the instrument you were playing with an inexpensive bow.. I liked the sound.it takes courage and guts to bow an instrument. Especially for a plucker---but that's the fun of it. Keep bowing til the squeeks and squeals subside and a melody emerges. And it's a commission yet. I wonder how another one might turn out.  Take a bow.

  • Thanks Richey, I,m on a roll. Cramming for finals...
  • You're turning out some very impressive work at the moment Dave!

  • Peter, I think sharing our ideas is what Nation is all about. I got the idea from a friend on Nation to begin with.
  • I love it! Especially the soundholes. Would you mind if I used that concept for one of my guitars?

  • Thanks Uncle. I think Karin will like it. She's the fiddle play er in my band, "the procrastinators". She plays her grandfather's fiddle which sounds beautiful.
  • Take a  bow, Dave.
