This was a tricky build..my customer wanted a uke...and wanted it Jack Daniels themed. My first thought was to try and find a double-bottle tin...but to no avail...so I used a perspex fronted cigar box ..I'd been thinking about finding a use for these, as I've got a few of them. I decided it couldn't be a neck thru' in order to fit in the 1/4 bottle, so put in end blocks and used furniture barrel bolts to fix the neck. A passive piezo pickup built into the floating bridge takes care of amplifying it. I decided against cutting a soundhole into the perspex for fear of splitting it, so put in a soundport on the upper side. A snakeskin vinyl-covered case completes the outfit.I was working to a tight deadline as this is a birthday present, so it was great that it all worked when I put the strings on it. Phew..off in then post tomorrow morning. I've still got a couple more of these boxes...I might just do a Chickenbone Miracle Tonic version.

Wooooo, that is one of the slickest things I've seen. He should be very happy with that!! Too bad you didn't add a "break glass in case of emergency" sticker!

Very innovative, well done! Like the case too.
:) Better by far than a tin. Tins have been done. Creative.
