  • Thanks AGP! I tempered the flat bean can build a while back and like the look, haven't tried the WD-40 treatment but I will now....Thanks!

  • "Nice Bean Can Resonator Build", I have a few hammered bean can builds, and agree, it does alter the sound/tone, have also tempered a few after hammering, by heating to red hot & then quenching by spraying with WD40, which I think!! also alters the sound/tone a bit, but if nothing else, it does give it "Blued Relic Type Look"

  • Give her a go UJ, remember though it will raise the lid about 3/8"-1/2" when you hammer it.

Thanks CL! Finally got some time to do a few to replenish inventory before I start on a few custom builds.

  • Hmm.  You've got me looking at my bean can guitar and thinking about hammering it.

  • Yeah, it's good to have a little time for building again.

Sat down at the old drafting table in the shop and came up with the soundhole design.....kinda fun to be drawing something other than houses  :-)

I started hammering the lids recently, the thinking is it stretches the metal and increases the sound. After doing a few it is a noticable difference with the hammered being a better sound board the flat. Looks kinda cool too so that's a bonus ;-)

  • The dog is in a building mood.   Very nice.   This kind of does and doesn't look like a Maddog build.   I don't recall you doing sound holes like these and it seems like the hammering is new and good.   Also the pup is different - but I like those a lot.
