In the mail from Dave Lynas.

Got this cool tone bar in the mail today from Dave Lynas and the packing box has a similar scene plus 2 old codgers playing CBG. Kind of looks like Dave and me. I am the one who can not keep time.I have some of Dave's slides and boxes and one of these days I am going to frame the art from the boxes. Thanks, Dave!

  • My foot fits my voice best....
  • The G fits my voice the best.

  • I still use the G tuning most of the time. I've been playing that tuning since art school days in the 60s. I've got an old "Hound Dog Dobro" from the 30s that i found in a pawn shop in Minneapolis when in school. It's name is Sam as that was glued to the headstock cut in linoleum. It was in G when i got it and it never left. I know most of my licks in G. C6 is very new to me, but i'm loving it. Uplifting key. I've used regular strings tuned to C6. It works fine sept the high strings are a bit floppy. I use light strings on fragile necks, so my parlor guitars only get light strings.
  • Please do Bluesheart. I'd love to send one to you.
  • Dave is a very talented guy. GOnna have to get some of his slides soon.

  • Dave, I could not make the C6 tuning work with standard strings, but I did try the tone bar open G and it worked great.

  • Thanks John, Pick. I love the drawing you sent me John. I'd love to sit down and pick a tune or two with you folks. Hope the slide bar gets you to try lap style Uncle. I'll try making a photo of that drawing to show it off. I sent off 3 packages of slides and knobs yesterday. I'm liking the box drawings.
