  • Ah OK... I think I get it. It looks cool anyway!

  • Okay then. I guess I should have looked more before asking so many questions.

  • Nice!

  • Oh and its tuned C-G-C. The other two are G-C.

  • So I was just browsing looking for ideas and came across something called sympathetic strings. Never heard of it so I researched further. I saw that someone had done something with a cigar box guitar and I thought I'd give it a try. I initially wanted to hollow the neck out like a canoe, but that turned out to be a long process that my ADD will not tolerate so I looked at the inspiration for the project again and took a different route. The idea is not something I came up with. Still has some work that needs done on the parts like developing a better bridge. The 3 playable strings are about 3/4 an inch off the box and the two underneath are about 1/4. The two underneath don't appear to vibrate like I was thinking though. Perhaps the two sets are too far apart? Also the neck is thinker than I would like, but that could be fixed if I really felt like it. I am able to play decent chords, but not what I'd like. Still trying to grasp the construction of a playable fretted instrument, not just using a slide all the time. Has a simple radio shack piezo for the time being because I wanted to make sure it worked, but I do plan to invest in a decent pick up. Although it may not have turned out exactly how i wanted, I will say that this is the loudest one I've made. Can only turn my acoustic amp up half as loud as my other builds before my wife begins to say she can't hear the tv. I'll post a video another time.
